Kim's Big Head in San Fran

My billboard in Berkley in San Francisco rises above the cash advance store. This was taken this past weekend, and it was scheduled to come down this week, so I'm not sure if it's still there. My fiance got an e-mail from the gallery saying that the smaller version of his billboard sold at the San Francisco show. Yay! And then the gallery owner went on to say that he's misplaced the smaller version of my billboard. And unlike the other artists, who painted acrylic onto donated vinyl, I painted mine in oil on canvas. Hopefully he'll find it. Or someone's just purchased a painting....

New blogs and Australian magazines

I'm still recovering from jet lag, but thought I'd better post something. I found some great art supplies in Australia -- a 1978 Australia Post magazine, a 1964 Tasmanian agriculture magazine, a 1959 Australian Electronics magazine, and a 1972 Australian Woman's World. Also some rusted bits of metal from this great hardware/second hand store. I'm hoping to make some more altered art pieces for my kimbagwill etsy shop.

This great blog Cuteable featured my Dangerous Baths notecard, in a shark/fish themed post.

Onthedotcreations, a fabulous blog featuring only polka dot items, included my cow birthday card in a post, too.

Also, a co-worker stopped by my desk this morning and said she was in San Francisco this weekend, saw my billboard, and took a photo of it. Maybe I'll be able to post it later this week. Not sure how much time I'm going to have since I have to get ready for a weekend trip to Illinois next weekend, and I still have to create some new art because the Mincing Mockingbird and I were contacted by Kelly Whitmer, who owns a very cool shop called regeneration in Los Angeles who wants us to do a joint show at her shop. She features a lot of very cool recycled, and eco-friendly art and household items.

New ACEO before Oz

Here's my newest aceo. I found the text in a Woman's Day magazine from 1959.

This could be my last post for a couple of weeks as I leave for a whirlwind trip to Australia on Friday (I may be able to post tomorrow though). We're in Bribane for two days, Sydney for four (with a side trip to the Blue Mountains), Tasmania for four and Melbourne for four where we'll stay with my penpal from 6th grade. She and her husband visited me 17 years ago when I lived in Chicago and stayed with us for a week or so and since I was little, it's been a dream of mine to visit her in Australia. I'll be taking tons of photos, some of which will hopefully end up in my artwork. Plus, I hope to buy some old books or magazines to use in my altered art and collage work. I can't wait! And the Mincing Mockingbird plans to take a lot of photos of birds, so he'll have new painting subjects.

Great Top Hat Dad

Here's my new father's day card. Thought I'd better get one done before I head off for my two week vacation to Australia on Friday.

I'm in the San Francisco Chronicle!

Last year for Earth Day I repainted one of my paintings 13 x 13 feet, "Kim Has a Good Skip", on a billboard size piece of vinyl for Eco-LA gallery here in Los Angeles. It was rehung in Los Angeles (above) this past January, and now it's hanging in San Francisco for the following month. Also, a reporter from the San Francisco Chronicle called my fiance, the Mincing Mockingbird, (who painted a full-size billboard) and interviewed him. The article came out today and we're both mentioned! It's pretty exciting for us both. Here's the link for the article.
I think it's also running the actual printed paper on Tuesday, so we'll have to run around and see if we can find a copy.

Here's the link for one of the previous posts during the painting process.
